Transformation in the South Caucasus

Designed for people who are interested in economic, social and political transformation in the South Caucasus, this course has a strong international focus.

Taught in English, this Masters Program can be completed full time in 18 months. It has recruited students from all three of the countries in the region. All students study together on taught courses for the first year in Tbilisi and in the second year do a four-month internship and spend four months writing a dissertation. The program incorporates elements of public policy and policy analysis, economics, international relations, foreign policy analysis, nationalism, conflict resolution, academic writing and research methods.

In addition to the regional students, the module gives the opportunity to international students who are interested in learning more about the Caucasus region either to attend individual courses or the whole program.

Faculty teaching on the course will be international and will include individuals with practical experience that should prove invaluable to students including lecturers who work full-time in the NGO community and Government.

Graduates of the programs in South Caucasus in Transformation will obtain a Master’s degree in Social Sciences (MSocSc.) after the successful fulfillment of all requirements envisaged by CSSS regulations. Successful graduates will receive the Diploma of Tbilisi State University and Diploma Supplement that corresponds to the requirements of the Bologna Process for European Universities.

Gender Studies

Designed for people who are interested in theoretical and methodological aspects of feminist research and gender policies, the only program in the region focusing on gender issues. Taught in English this is a 18 months Master's degree program.

The aim of the program is to prepare gender specialists who will work in local governmental and non-governmental organizations and put their effort towards gender equality. This course is the first, and very timely, attempt towards bringing gender education into the country driven by the evident demand for educated personnel in the sphere.

As a result of this aspiration, in addition to the studies in feminist theory and philosophy the course includes practical training in information technology, research methods, policy analysis, law and politics.

Graduates of the programs in Gender Studies will obtain a Master’s degree in Social Sciences (MSocSc.) after the successful fulfillment of all requirements envisaged by the Tbilisi State University. Successful graduates will receive the Diploma Supplement that corresponds to the requirements of the Bologna Process for European Universities.
