About the Center for Social Sciences
The Center for Social Sciences (CSS) was founded in November 2003 as a spin-off of Social Sciences Support Program (SSSP, 2000-2003) at Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF).
The CSS is a network institution of Higher Education Support Program of Open Society Institute in South Caucasus. Mission of the center is to prepare a highly qualified next generation of social science scholars and practitioners, and thus aid forming civil society in the conditions of internationalization of Georgia.
The CSS approaches are to
• improve the level of research and teaching in social sciences,
• reform in higher education, and
• build the awareness and values of the open society and human rights in globalized world.
